From the responses obtained and analysed, the findings revealed that there is a significant relationship between the qualifications of teachers and secondary school student performance. Also, the findings of the study revealed that secondary school students who are taught by highly qualified teachers perform better than those taught by lowly qualified teachers. The study recommend that training and retraining of teachers should be a priority as the quality of teachers directly influences the quality of students in secondary schools. Also, teachers should be constantly tested to determine their level of qualification; this would help to improve the academic performance of secondary school students.
